Back to Hockey - sociable, fun and a great way to get fit

Our latest “Back to Hockey” course started on 1st November, but don’t worry if you missed the first session – you’re welcome to come along next week for some or all of the rest of the sessions.

Thinking of getting back into hockey? Or trying it for the first time?

“Back to Hockey” is designed for women with a focus on fun, fitness and friendship. All abilities and fitness levels are welcome. You will have the opportunity to get a bit fitter, learn new hockey skills and play team hockey in a fun and sociable environment.

If you’re already a hockey player, please help us to spread the word to women who might be interested in taking part.

Oxford Hockey Club are running “Back to Hockey” on a Tuesday evening on the astroturf pitch at Oxford Brookes sports centre (click for directions) from 7pm until 8pm. The next course will run for 6 weeks from Tuesday November 1st. The first session is free to see if you like it. The cost for the rest of the sessions will be £15 altogether.

We have a few hockey sticks and shin pads available for people to borrow so there is no need to go out and buy kit before you decide if you like it. Mouth guards will be available free once you have paid for your course and we have a number of sticks available for purchase at a very reasonable cost. Just wear clothes suitable for sport and trainers or astroturf shoes if you have them. A drinks bottle is a good idea too for a quick drink during the session.

There are changing facilities including toilets and showers at Brookes which you can use and of course Brookes sports bar and creperie will be open for the purchase of refreshments and more socialising after your session.

If you have any questions or would like an application form please contact Helen Dudgeon (Oxford Hockey Club Ladies’ Club Captain):
