Men’s 3s v. Tring 1s – 12.11.11 match report

Oxford  7-2  Tring

The thirds went into this game knowing that anything else but victory against Tring would mean that their season was effectively at an end. Confidence was high, buoyed up by the performance against Staines last week.

The confidence, however, seemed a bit misplaced when Tring went 1 – 0 up with a skilful solo goal by their centre forward. After this goal, however, little use was made of the centre forward for the rest of the game and consequently OHC began to dominate the park. This led to 3 goals in quick succession – and a well-taken penalty flick by Oli Dale seemed to totally knock the fight out of Tring. Half time score was then 5 – 1.

In the second half, OHC slipped back to old ways and tried to throw the game away but Tring were not interested – and the final score was 7 – 2 with four goals for man of the match Oli Dale, two for Nick Best and one for Jamie Douglas.

This bodes well for an interesting game against the 2s next week…

Scorers: Oli Dale x 4, Nick Best x 2 and Jamie Douglas
