Ladies’ 1s v. Tulse Hill & Dulwich – 18.2.12 match report
21 Feb
OHC ladies 1s 1-2 Tulse Hill & Dulwich
After a snowy weekend off, OHC 1s were back in action against Tulse Hill & Dulwich. Oxford got the first shot of the game, but otherwise started slowly, however they were unlucky to concede after around 10 minutes with a tricky bouncing shot from a penalty corner finding the back of the net. Going behind early did mean that Oxford had to really push to get momentum back, but this came towards the middle of the half with Becky Hibbert and Hayley Sawyer applying pressure down the right and Catherine Reaney getting another shot off at the opposition goal. Despite this period of pressure, the opposition scored again just before the break to make the score 0-2 at half time.
OHC looked a different team in the second half and retained possession and passed the ball a lot more comfortably. Sophie Shilston and Kim Haynes combined to cause problems on the left and Shilston found the back of the net after latching on to a cross from Caro Harris.
Oxford looked sharp and it took some pretty tough tackles on Reaney to prevent Oxford adding a second which just wouldn’t come despite the home team continuing to dominate play and the score remained 1-2 at full time. Vicky Quantrell was man of the match for her hard work and great passing from the midfield.
Scorer: Sophie Shilston
