The club’s AGM was held on Sunday 17th June – thanks to everyone who attended. You can read the minutes here (a concise and entertaining version of events which our Chairman, Mike Corran, skillfully kept to less than an hour).
The meeting included reports from the Chairman, and from the Chairs of the men’s, ladies’, mixed and junior sections. Mike’s report included a summary of the findings from our recent club survey – you can read the club survey summary here.
New committee members were elected (most of their details will be found here – it will be all of them as soon as I’ve had time to update the page!). There are a couple of positions still vacant – Director of Hockey and Mixed Chair. If you have any interest in finding out more about these roles and possibly even volunteering yourself, please do contact our Chairman, Mike (email@example.com).
We only elect the club’s general committee at the AGM (basically so that we’re not there all night voting in 17 captains for the senior teams). It’s up to the heads of the playing sections (i.e. the men’s and ladies’ Chair and Club Captain) to oversee the appointment of the captains and various other roles (e.g. umpire co-ordinator, fixtures secretaries, etc). This will take place over the course of the next few weeks – if you have any questions please contact the relevant section chair or club captain (click for contacts page).
There are still plenty of opportunities to take on a small job and help the club – from writing for the website, to doing pitch allocations for next season – there are lots of ways in which you can get involved. Please contact anyone on our contacts page and they’ll point you in the right direction!
Our treasurer also presented the annual accounts, and the good news is that the club made a small profit overall last season almost exactly in line with the budget (mind you that does hide a lot of pluses and minuses!!) and we’re still solvent. Even better, it looks like match fees / subs won’t need to go up (unless pitch or petrol costs change significantly). If you are interested in more detail about the accounts – or want a copy of the figures presented at the AGM – then just email Paul Wilson.
