Ladies’ 1s v. Southampton 1s – 17.11.12 match report

Oxford  4-1  Southampton

Oxford HC faced second from bottom Southampton HC in what was set to be a tight clash, with Southampton looking for a win and Oxford determined to get back to winning ways after a few disappointing results.

Oxford started intently with purpose and were rewarded shortly after the whistle with a well-worked team goal, which Hayley Sawyer slotted home to take the lead. Oxford continued the intensity and applied pressure to Southampton that ensured Kelly Scott scored her first goal of the season for the club.

Southampton applied their own pressure in the second half but could not stop man of the match Hayley Sawyer from a scoring a further two goals to complete her hat trick. Southampton were awarded a consolation goal after a lapse of concentration from Oxford but the team kept working hard to the end to ensure their win was retained.
