Ladies 3s are League Champions!

Congratulations to the ladies 3rd team who – with one match still to play – have come top of their division, Trysports Premier 2 and are now looking forward to joining our 2nd team in Prem 1 next season!

The 3s secured their title in some style at Brookes last Saturday when they beat Marlow 2s 12-1 (all the more impressive when you consider that Marlow are not struggling at the bottom of the division but currently sit in 4th place!). Witney then beat second-placed Newbury & Thatcham 1s, leaving them four points behind Oxford with only one match to play.

Well done to all the players who have played for the 3s this season and particularly to our captain Suzie Williams. The team has now won 14 consecutive league games, with the last defeat coming way back in early November (luckily the good run of form continued even after Hie made Suzie throw away her disintegrating lucky clipboard at Christmas…). It has been a huge squad effort and everyone has gelled brilliantly, playing some lovely hockey with great quick passing moves across the whole pitch, and getting better and better as the season has gone on.

Although the 3s have already secured the league title and promotion, two of our strikers will still be battling it out this weekend for the chance to become league and team top scorer. Clare Harris of Thame is currently in the lead with 19 but Oxford’s Hie is on 18, with Christy very close behind on 17.
