Ladies 2s v OHC Ladies 3s – 15.10.16 Match Report

OHC 2s 7-2 OHC 3s

Since the 3s promotion last season the prospect of a 2s vs 3s showdown has been on the cards, and on Saturday the day had finally arrived. Club mates and friends were suddenly pitted against each other with league points at stake.

For the 2s shaking off last week’s loss at Wallingford was high on the agenda and the wish to score some early goals to settle the nerves were all part of the game plan. And on a beautiful morning of autumnal sunshine this game plan was panning out nicely for the 2s, 4 goals to the good at half time made for a positive team talk however pushing on to seal the victory was required.

Naturally after a tough first half the 3s came back at us hard and scored first in the second half with their forwards slipping away from their markers in the D. Even Phil’s new shiny pads couldn’t stop the ball hitting the back board! There was a good response from the 2s with a goal in return before once again the 3s struck back. It was end to end play and good value entertainment for those loyal spectators on the sidelines.

Finally as the game entered its final few minutes some drastic and unconventional defence from the 3s gave away a penalty stroke which birthday girl Beks stepped up to score. A fine reward for her hard work up front all game.
