Ladies 1s v Buckingham 2s 20.11.16 Match Report

Oxford HC L1s 1s 1-1 Buckingham L2s

South League Div 2

Oxford faced Buckingham on Sunday to play their rearranged fixture at Iffley Road. The game started evenly with both sides testing the other early on, and Oxford getting the measure of some of Buckingham’s pacier forwards.

Oxford had speed up front too however, and Kim Warman’s cross into the D was met by Meg Scott in the D to force a corner after 30 minutes. A deft touch from Emily Malden led to a Buckingham foot on the line and a flick to Oxford which Malden duly dispatched to make the score 1-0 at half time.

Oxford had to weather some early Buckingham pressure in the second half, with MOM Emma Henriksen in goal pulling off some great saves to keep Oxford in front. Buckingham equalised however, when a short corner effort deflected into the Oxford net. OHC continued to press however, and sadly the umpires whistle denied Warman twice within a space of a few minutes and Victoria Sauven’s shot went agonisingly wide. 1-1 the final score with Oxford making the trip over to Buckingham next weekend.

MOM: Emma Henriksen
