Oxford 3s  3-1  Oxford 2s

Given the respective positions of the two teams in Trysports Prem 1, on paper it looked like the 2s were a safe bet to take 3 points this weekend, despite missing 2 or 3 regulars. And, for the first ten minutes or so, we (the 2s) did start strongly, passing the ball around well and dominating play. There were a few efforts on goal, and the first short corner in our favour. Amersham & Chalfont  3-2  Oxford

It was an early start for Oxford but at least we weren’t going to the zombie film setting of Newlands this time but to a much more pleasant school sports centre in Rickmansworth. Nevertheless, Oxford were a little slow to wake up and get themselves into the game against a team who are second in Prem 2. And it was lucky that Georgie was on top form in goal, ably assisted by strong tackling from Zoey, Corin and Ruth in defence. Continue reading

Ladies’ 2s in quarter-final of Plate – match report (28.2.16)

Chelmsford  2-1  Oxford

The quarter finals of the England Hockey 2nd XI Plate competition took Oxford Ladies 2s to Chelmsford. Having thoroughly beaten Bath in the last round, Oxford were determined to continue the winning streak. Our motivational talk began with a call from manager Andrew on the slopes of the French Alps. Ladies 2s advance to quarter-finals of 2nd XI Plate competition!

Oxford  4-1  Bath Buccaneers

This Sunday the Ladies 2s faced Bath Buccaneers in the second round of the plate. Bath Buccs play four leagues above Oxford 2s, and we knew that it was going to be a tough game if we wanted to make it through to the quarter finals. The team talk before the game took a slightly different slant to normal, with motivational words being spoken in the form of poetry from Tanky and Niki. However, it appeared to work and we took the game to the Buccaneers, putting them under pressure from the off. Continue reading
