We arrived at the pitch slightly anxious to say the least, firstly due to the fact that Sonning 1s were rather high up in the league and secondly because we had had about 4 people drop out in the week, therefore making us unsure as to whether or not we had a full team. Ladies 1s v Spencer L1s – 22.10.16 Match Report

OHC Ladies went down 2-4 to Spencer on Saturday despite a storming second half performance. Oxford started the game strongly, with Christy Barnard and Meg Scott putting pressure on the Spencer keeper. Spencer were first to score however, converting a penalty corner, and then breaking quickly to add a second to take the wind out of Oxford’s sails. Spencer then took the initiative early in the second half with a well-taken chance, despite Phil Swindell proving difficult to get past in goal.

Women’s O35s v. Jersey – Cup match report 15.10.16

Oxford  1-9  Jersey

After about 200 emails to try and arrange this first-round Cup tie with far-flung Jersey, I soon realised why Katie Smith had been so keen to pass on the ‘honour’ of captaining Oxford’s ladies’ Masters (that’s a polite way of saying Over 35) team. In order to assist with our exotic visitors’ travel arrangements, the game was moved a day forward to the Saturday. Naturally, I had every confidence in the fitness of my squad, most of whom would already have played a league match earlier that day. Continue reading
