Tim’s Mixed Mash-up Tournament

On Sunday 23rd July we’ll be hosting a mixed tournament in honour of our keeper Tim Bence who sadly died earlier this year.

The tournament will be at Oxford Brookes, with games starting at 12 and in honour of Tim we’d like to be a little bit different. Tim played for many different teams, so in keeping with this, we’d like everyone who wants to play to turn up on the day where we’ll mix up the teams. If you are hoping to play we would ask for you to arrive before 11:30 in order to allow time to sort teams on the day.

This will be a great way to meet some new people from different clubs, play some fun hockey, and remember a great character from our club.

The plan is to ask everyone who plays to contribute £5, we’ll also organise a few fund-raising things on the day too, including a BBQ.

In order to make sure we’ve got enough food, and to help organise the smooth running of things on the day, please could you let Harry Bryant know if you plan to come by emailing her: harriett.bryant.88@gmail.com

Club Day – Sunday 8th September

We hope you’re all looking forward to Club Day, which this year is being held on Sunday 8th September. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with teammates and meet some new faces, as well as getting in a bit of game time before league matches are upon us!

There will be fun 7-a-side games for all abilities – please try and bring along both white and blue shirts so we can easily mix up teams. The pitch at Oxford Brookes has been booked for the following times, so make sure you come along early enough to get warmed up and ready to go.

– Ladies: 12.30-2.30pm (meet at 12.00)

– Mixed: 2.30-4pm (anyone is welcome to join in)

– Men: 4-6pm

A BBQ will be running all afternoon and our kit supplier, Onhand Sports, will be there with kit samples to try on and order. Gumshields can also be purchased from FirstLine mouthguards, who will be at Brookes from 11.30-1.30 to take impressions. Pre-ordering is essential – more details are available here and the order form can be downloaded here.

New members are very welcome: this is a great opportunity to try out the club and meet our captains and coaches. If you’re new to hockey, or looking to get back into the game, this is the perfect time to give it a go in a fun and relaxed setting – just get in touch via our Join us form.

OHC Mixed v. Abingdon – 10.3.13 match report

Oxford  6-4  Abingdon

“I think we’re both running late!”… “Give us a lift you…” is roughly the conversation that happened as your correspondent overtook Jack cycling up Headington Hill. Despite both arriving after the advertised pushback time, we still managed to be on pitch before co-captain Becky, which turned out to be ideal preparation as OHC Mixed recorded OUR FIRST EVER WIN!!!
