Summer Hockey

Believe it or not, summer is fast approaching – at least in hockey terms…

We’ve entered men’s and ladies’ sides (4 of each) into the local Oxford summer leagues, based at Banbury Road North, plus one additional ladies’ team in the White Horse league in Abingdon. The first women’s games are on 14th May, while the men start the following week on 22nd May. All the leagues run until late July. Read more…

Big Dribble 2012km record reached in Oxford!

The Big Dribble, GB hockey roadshow, which came to Oxford on 1st MayThe Big Dribble, Great Britain Hockey’s roadshow, came to Oxford Hockey Club on Tuesday 1st May. Despite the rain, the event attracted a really good number of local hockey players, Brookes students and staff, curious passers-by and children from many local schools, including St Andrew’s, St Joseph’s, Cheney, Windmill Primary, Magdalen College and Headington Girls’. The Big Dribble – Tues 1st May

The Big Dribble, coming to Oxford on 1st MayJust a reminder that the Big Dribble, a GB Hockey roadshow, is coming to Oxford tomorrow (Tuesday 1st May) – come along if you can to the astroturf at Brookes University from 9.30 to 11am.

You’ll have the chance to take part in the record-breaking attempt to dribble 2012km, by dribbling a hockey ball around the 100 metre course. There will also be a giant hockey ball you can sign to wish the GB teams good luck ahead of the Olympics, plus lots of fun, free roadshow activities.

Men’s 1s in play-offs: Sunday 29th April

Our men’s first team finished in second place in the South Regional 1st Division, and are therefore through to the play-offs for promotion to national league.

The play-offs take place on Sunday 29th April at Haslemere Hockey Club – Woolmer Hill Sports Ground, Woolmer Hill, Haslemere, GU27 1QA. Supporters are welcome! It involves two semi-finals and a final on the same day. Read more…

Women’s cup final weekend

Sadly, both our ladies’ 1s and 2s were runners-up in their respective finals this weekend. However, it was still a great achievement for our first season as Oxford Hockey Club, and being in the national finals was a great experience, very well-organised and with good atmosphere. Men’s 1s make it into play-offs for promotion

Oxford travelled to Ashford on Saturday, knowing that a point would secure them a place in the play-offs, and for much of the game that was what they looked like getting. Read more…
