New Paid Sponsorship Role within the Club

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic individual who will proactively seek out sponsorship opportunities for the club initially during the next twelve months. This is a new role within the club designed to harness the opportunities a membership base of 600 -700 players (half juniors) would offer potential sponsors.

The role would be on a self employed basis and be remunerated in line with the amount of sponsorship paid to the club directly resulting from the individuals effort.

If you are interested please email Paul Wilson before the end of August. At that time further information will be sent about the role to enable the potential applicants to decide if they wish to proceed.

Tim’s Mixed Mash-up Tournament

On Sunday 23rd July we’ll be hosting a mixed tournament in honour of our keeper Tim Bence who sadly died earlier this year.

The tournament will be at Oxford Brookes, with games starting at 12 and in honour of Tim we’d like to be a little bit different. Tim played for many different teams, so in keeping with this, we’d like everyone who wants to play to turn up on the day where we’ll mix up the teams. If you are hoping to play we would ask for you to arrive before 11:30 in order to allow time to sort teams on the day.

This will be a great way to meet some new people from different clubs, play some fun hockey, and remember a great character from our club.

The plan is to ask everyone who plays to contribute £5, we’ll also organise a few fund-raising things on the day too, including a BBQ.

In order to make sure we’ve got enough food, and to help organise the smooth running of things on the day, please could you let Harry Bryant know if you plan to come by emailing her:

A reminder that the club AGM takes place very shortly. This is the club’s annual get together where you get your chance to say what you think about the past year, what you’d like to see in the coming year, and see how the rest of the club has done. It’s also your opportunity to contribute to the club going forward – either by putting yourself forward for a role at the meeting or beforehand (email me if you have any queries or want to discuss).

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in a couple of weeks.

The agenda is here.

Paid Administration Role within Oxford Hockey Club

Given the size of the club, and the need to focus willing volunteers on the playing element of the club, the committee has decided to advertise for one (or two) paid administrators to undertake those back-office roles necessary to keep the club functioning effectively.

Accordingly, if you (or someone you know) is interested in undertaking this role, which will commence at the beginning of June, please contact Paul Wilson by the end of the month. He will be pleased to provide much more information.

The role will evolve but initially will include such things as:

  • Pitch bookings and allocations for juniors and seniors
  • Membership subscriptions and database management
  • Organisation of the annual Rover Junior Festival and another junior tournament.

The person interested will be self-motivated, have good administration skills and attention to detail, will work from home, on their own computer, at a time to suit themselves, on a self-employed basis.

The time commitment is estimated to be initially about 200 hours in total over the period from June to March.
