‘Back to Hockey’ is a national scheme designed for women with a focus on fun, fitness and friendship, for beginners who have never picked up a hockey stick before, to those who have been away from the game for a while and want to polish up their rusty hockey skills. You’ll have the opportunity to get a bit fitter, learn new skills and play team hockey in a fun and sociable environment.
The ladies’ section of Oxford hockey club has run 13 successful ‘Back to Hockey’ courses since the legacy of the London Olympics, and Rio gave the sport an even bigger boost last year!
The next Back to Hockey starts on Friday 29 September 2017, from 6.30 to 8pm, and continues every Friday until the end of November. It’s ‘Pay and Play’ and really great value at £4 per session, so you can just come along when you can – no need to commit to the whole series.
The sessions are at Headington Girls’ School astroturf pitch (click for directions).
We have hockey sticks available to borrow so there’s no need to buy one. Just wear clothes suitable for sport (t-shirt, sweatshirt, shorts or tracksuit bottoms), and trainers or astroturf shoes if you have them. Bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated during the session, and a waterproof just in case (rain does NOT stop play!).
Please note there are NO changing facilities at Headington School, just wcs near the pitch.
