Men’s 7s

Oxford Hockey Club men's 7th teamCaptain: Tom Wordsworth (07725853923)

League: MBBO Open League Division 7 (2016-17 result – 4th place)

Training: We don’t tend to train, except in the bar after a game has finished…but nominally it would be:

Tuesdays @ 20.00-21.30 skills/drills based training at Oxford University, Iffley Road

Wednesdays @ 19.00-21.00 game based training at Oxford University, Iffley Road

About the Team: The 7s (renamed in 2015, formerly known as the Hamsters) are a sociable and friendly side. We have a wide age range of players from juniors through to senior men.

We offer junior players an introduction into senior men’s hockey in a relaxed and friendly environment, where they can learn and develop their skills. We also have a qualified coach hockey coach within our team. We play good hockey and provide a platform for young players to gain confidence in senior men’s hockey and push on into higher sides within the club.

About the Captain: Tom says: “I’m really looking forward to captaining the side this year. We have a core of players who’ve played together for a good while now and are a lot more friendly than their craggy looks may suggest. The hockey isn’t too shabby either! We’re always happy to take in new players, be they returning to hockey after a while away (as was my case a few years ago) or more junior players looking to get used to the men’s game in a more relaxed environment.”
