Our first and second teams play in the Regional section of the South Hockey League – in MBBO Regional divisions 1 and 2. This is an extremely strong, competitive standard of hockey just below the South Premier. Players have the opportunity to train twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. See the training page for more details.
Our third to ninth teams play in the MBBO section of the South Hockey League and are currently placed throughout divisions 1 to 10. We are well situated for this league, which covers Middlesex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. There is a good balance between competitive and social hockey, so there is a team for everyone whatever their ability. Our main men’s training night for these teams is Wednesdays.
Hockey is great social game and enjoyed by players of all ages , so come along and see what it is all about. If you haven’t a stick, we will have one spare for you to borrow. Do note though that it’s recommended to have shinpads and a gumshield. If you are interested please complete the form on the join us page.
Oxford Hockey Club is a friendly and sociable organisation that values all its teams. We encourage stronger players to get involved in helping to umpire, coach, and manage other sides.
Selection for each of the men’s winter league teams is carried out in accordance with the section’s selection policy. Full details of the policy may be found here.
We also encourage talented youngsters to play in the adult sides, as soon as they are ready to do so – the minimum age to play in a senior game is 13. If you are younger than this, or wish to play for one of our many junior teams, please visit the Juniors’ website.
There’s a local summer league based in Oxford which runs from May to July.
We also enter some knock-out competitions, including the England Hockey Trophy and the County Cup tournament each September.
