Rover Oxford Festival 1 of 3

1. Rover Oxford Festival

Rover Oxford Festival

The Rover Oxford Hockey Festival is an annual event organised by Oxford Hockey Club.

Sadly the festival has been suspended during the pandemic.

The festival was started in 1993 by the then Rover Oxford Hockey Club at the Dragon School, then moved Tilsley Park before moving to the magnificent grounds of Cokethorpe School in 2007.

The festival retains its Rover Oxford name but is now hosted by Oxford Hockey Club, following the merger between Rover Oxford and City of Oxford Hockey Clubs in 2011.

The festival is held during the Easter holidays, for Under 8 (mixed), Under 10 (mixed), Under 12 and Under 14 (separate boys and girls teams). The typical format is 7-a-side games on half a pitch for all age groups. The festival attracts teams from all over the country and has a special link with Banbridge Academy from Northern Ireland who have entered every year since 1998. The festival attracts over 500 children over two days of competition and is believed to be one of the largest in the UK.

Where numbers permit, ‘A’ and ‘B’ leagues give an opportunity for all levels of players to participate at an end of season competitive but friendly atmosphere.
